Job Satisfaction for Workers

Question:

As most people spend a major part of their adult life at work, job satisfaction is an important element of individual wellbeing.  What factors contribute to job satisfaction? How realistic is the expectation of job satisfaction for all workers? (250 words)

Answer:

In today's modern life, having a job is not merely to fulfill one's need to get a better living, but to satisfy one's desire as well. Many people choose to work in a field that fits their ideas and can compromise to what they want. The reason for this is that they believe to gain satisfaction will help improve their wellbeing.

Several factors that contribute to job satisfaction come from two sources; external and internal. The external source is related to the job environment they have chosen that involves their working partners and colleagues, the stress level of the job, and also the boss. If they feel comfortable with the situation in their jobs, they will get a great deal of satisfaction in their life. They will have less stress and more fun interactions with their colleagues and bosses, too.

Another source is the internal factor. It comes from themselves.This is related to the ideas, motivation, and desire that they have personally. People are known to have an urge for recognition and acknowledgment from others. They want to have their ideas and thoughts heard. Therefore,  having a job that can accommodate for their ideas is considered a luxury. It is what makes these working people feel satisfied and acknowledged. They can convey their thoughts and at the same time, they can earn money from getting their ideas implemented.

However, with the high demand of workers and low number of jobs available, to get a full and considerable amount of satisfaction is almost an impossible wish. Therefore, it is suggested that people who want to get satisfaction in their jobs be reasonable while keeping their wishes low-profile.
