Live a Healthy Life the Japanese Way

Most people nowadays seek for a healthy living by going back to the nature. Choosing what food to eat for daily intake is inevitably one factor to stay healthy. The Japanese cuisine is currently an alternative for those who want to live longer. It is believed that the Japanese cuisine, famous for its freshness and natural food servings, brings a great deal of benefits for people’s health.

The Japanese cuisine strongly emphasizes the food to be as fresh as possible. The fresher the food, the better it is for health. Sushi and sashimi, Japanese popular raw fish and seafood, are noticeable for being rich in Omega-3 fatty acid and vitamin A. The Omega 3 is found to be necessary for a healthy heart. Interestingly, the Japanese people are reported to have lower heart disease rates compared to other countries. This claim is supported by research on the Japanese and the US men conducted by Akira Sekikawa of the University of Pittsburgh in 2008. The research showed that the Japanese men had 80% more omega oils in their bloodstream than the US men (Romero 2009).

The Japanese cuisine is also abundant with minerals, vitamins A, C and B12 and protein, from seaweed, and low in saturated fat, rich in protein and calcium, from tofu. In addition, ginger served in the food helps prevent arthritis, lower cholesterol, and blood clot-related risks, and the shitake mushrooms are good for enhancing the body’s immune system (Romero 2009). All these highly nutritious food is what makes the Japanese cuisine opted by most people for a better and healthy life.
